Alpha Industries Joins Drop Out Store

Alpha Industries, notorious for designing high-performance outerwear for the U.S Military & NASA, are joining the Drop Out Clothing Racks.

Founded in 1959 in Knoxville, Tennessee, Alpha Industries were a contractor to the United States military - known for the MA-1 jacket and the N-2B parka, military jackets that would become iconic staples to urban closets all over the world.

The MA-1 in particular has been a blank canvas for many brands throughout streetwear history, and has proved major staying power. The jackets were designed with pilots in mind, and were made for ease of movement. That iconic orange interior? Yeah, that was so that pilots could reverse the jackets inside out and be found if they had ever crashed.

While Alpha Industries were not the original inventors of the jacket (we can thank Dobb Industries, their predecessor, for that), they were responsible for switching out leather for nylon, and adding a wool collar for ease of movement.

And now, they have finally arrived at Drop Out Store, with the Onion Quilting Collection, and the Keith Haring Collection.

We are so excited to be able to bring a serious heritage brand to Aotearoa New Zealand, and we can’t wait to see what else Alpha Industries do next.
